Ever since I was nine years old, I loved to write, mostly short stories or other creative pieces. This passion for writing followed me throughout high school, where I discovered that I want to pursue journalism as a career. Specifically, investigative journalism is something I strive to be part of, and I want to focus on crime reporting and uncovering the truth through ethical reporting. I first got a taste of this experience in 2019 when I became an intern at my local newspaper writing articles about crime in my area. It was a short experience, but it solidified my hopes and dreams of becoming an investigative journalist/crime reporter.
Now, at American University, I am double majoring in Journalism and Justice & Law (with a specialization in criminology), where I am increasing my knowledge and experience in both fields. I write for The Aviary and The Eagle, which allows me to put my creative writing skills to great use and write about other areas that I am interested in, and I also am part of the Student Media Board, which allows me to collaborate with our 11 wonderful media organizations on their publications and creations. I hope to continue writing articles, whether that be through on campus journalism, classes, or internships/jobs in the journalism field.
